The adapter plate is made of 4140 steel and covered in black nitride to increase the ability to avoid corrosion and to increase the lifetime of the mounting plate. Even with this addition of strength it only weighs .83 ounces. An additional sealer plate is unneeded making the switch to this plate an easy choice.
