Its important to keep the pump seal lubricated if it gets too dry the pump wont hold vacuum as long. A 5 gram tube gives you over a dozen applications (since you only need about a BB-sized amount if you're doing it right). Safe on metals rubber plastics fabric wood leather painted surfaces etc.
