Plasing a cloning cylinder over a colony of choice and saturating it with trypsin causes the cells to detach from the cloning cylinder allowing their harvesting without damage. Likewise a lid cover or plug can be placed over the cylinder to isolate feeder layers or a mixed population of growth.
